Smooth sailing

Studio orgainisation - I am STILL at it!
RE-arranging
sorting through
Stuff to give away
Books to sell...
..."Oh Mum!" my girls say...
"You're rearranging the studio, Again?"

Anyway,  I thought I had better actually give the New and Improved
set-up a try out last night while My Man is off camping!

He is off with the boys for a fishing weekend
And it is freezing mind you - being our winter
And it is Raining!
So I am totally glad they have gone and I'm home all nice and warm!

I don't think I love him quite that much to go camping, and fishing, in the cold and wet!
I much rather love:
hot chai tea with
sourdough Chocolate Cake
Which surprisingly worked a treat considering I left out three ingredients!
(Tip to self: DO NOT try cooking while chatting to a girlfriend! Because You obviously cannot do both at the same time!)

Large recycled  postage tag, acrylic, pencil, stamps, gel pen, gesso

The new set-up worked well...except as I type my cat figures the position of the art desk is a perfect runway and launcing pad for him to access the cat flap to his outdoor run at a gazillion miles an hour to check out the bird...
hmmm
that might not work (for me anyway!) if there is wet paint and water pots out!

I'll be around for a relaxing blog visit later today!  Sharing this with Sunday Sketches :-)
Have a relaxing, and warm, Sunday afternoon!

Masquarade challenge painting WIP

Her heart
fragile, intense, vulnerable...
She hides - a little

But she is on guard
... watching you,
watching her...
She guards
her heart

So.  Another of Jenn's challenges attempted.   This weeks theme was Masquerade - I had NO idea, so after much procrastinating, came up with this!   (Jenn's Artist Playroom challenge #31 Masquerade)

This is the sketch... to be continued!

art journal inspiration

I love to sit down with my journal and just be inspired by whatever comes along.  Without pressure to achieve anything.   I've made a real effort this week to keep a space on my art desk desk, where the journal can sit, open and ready, with all my basic supplies within arms reach.

I was inspired to create these two pages in my journal the other night from a red gum leaf my husband brought home from school.

I love the freedom art journaling offers.    I maintain a 'it doesn't matter' approach to this side of being creative - there are plenty of other areas I work hard at, so when it comes to creative play I make sure it stays playful!  But I am often amazed by the results.  I love the end results of these two.

Current inspiration sources: colour, leaves, flowers.

What do you use for inspiration?  What gets your creative juices really flowing?

Just be

Finished!  I added acrylic paints, artists inks, pencil, and a touch of lace to finish off...

A closeup of the bottom right corner shows the many layers.   I also went through all the library book tags I have collected, and cut out any dates that had meaning for me.

As she peeks around the corner of her life,
through the puddles,
and muddles
lifes light and dark.
She breathes.

When life gets too busy, find a space to just be, and breathe.
